Talking Tayside Successfully Raises the Profile of Tayside’s Contact Centres
Talking Tayside Contact Centre Week came to an end on Friday, November 26th, with the presentation of the Talking Tayside Contact Centre of the Year Award to the Perth contact centre of international insurance giant AVIVA.
“To be named Contact Centre of the Year is absolutely fantastic,” said Susan Sidey of AVIVA. “The team at AVIVA has only been together for a couple of years so it’s an absolute triumph to be recognised for the work we do, especially as two of our team members – Donna Walker and Rachel Menzies – were also presented with Talking Tayside awards.”
The Talking Tayside Awards were presented at the Winter Wonderland Ball, which provided the perfect ending to a week highlighting the significance of the local contact centre industry and the skills, enthusiasm and commitment of those who work in Tayside’s contact centres.
“Tayside has a very big part to play in the contact centre industry,” said Councillor Will Dawson, convener of Dundee City Council’s City Development Committee, which instigated Talking Tayside in 2000. “Talking Tayside Contact Centre Week has been absolutely superb and the Winter Wonderland Ball was a fabulous celebration of the tenth anniversary of Talking Tayside, which has done so much to develop and promote the local contact centre industry.”
During Taking Tayside Contact Centre Week 2010, events took place throughout Tayside to enable contact centres to help each other provide the best possible services to customers, highlight the career opportunities provided by the contact centre industry and dispel many of the myths around contact centres.
“So many people have a negative image of working in a contact centre,” said Debbie Baird, Chair of Talking Tayside. “To counteract this, Contact Centre Week 2010 included a visit by Brechin High School pupils to Journeycall’s Brechin contact centre and opportunities for visitors to our Contact Centre Information Day to talk to contact centre employees, which certainly helped change many people’s perceptions.”
Scottish Development International, which offers help and advice to companies looking for business locations, has been associated with Talking Tayside for several years and was the headline sponsor of this year’s Talking Tayside Awards. “The Talking Tayside Forum is a great example of public partnership working,” said Mark McMullen of Scottish Development International.
“For the last ten years, Talking Tayside has been successfully promoting not only the sector as a career but also Tayside as a first class location for contact centre operations – here’s to the next ten years of Talking Tayside!”
